Additional Information
Yard Sale
For anyone bringing clothes to the yard sale
Please attach a ticket on each item with your name, price, description of item, and size. Bring them to the sale between 9:00 and 9:30.
Give an envelope with your name on it to Janice Fox to put your money in after the sale. You can then pick up your money or unsold items at 11:30.
Rooms and Dance Floor
There are some changes since 2003, the main one being the floors are all carpet like last year in Pigeon Forge. We are putting down vinyl flooring for the round dance hall, but after polling the square dancers last year we are dancing on the carpet for all the other rooms. Be sure to bring or wear those SLICK LEATHER SOLED SHOES . We will also have the floor mats with silicone spray to walk across to aid in dancing.
We will have 5 dance rooms to accommodate all your dancing needs. Mainstream, Plus, Advanced, Rounds, Lines and Contra will all be offered. The facility is larger than last year and will be much cooler so no heat issues.
Callers and Cuers
Callers, cuers and line dance instructors are being asked to register and so far the line-up is looking really great. We have some of the best in each of these areas right here in our state. We have staff that call all over the world.
Schedule
We are going to have a full fun-filled schedule for your enjoyment.
- Trail-In Dance: Thursday night, August 5th. Check-in will begin at 6:30 p.m.
We will have one room open with alternating tips of mainstream or plus with a round or line-dance in between. The good new is you can wear your 2010 Convention t-shirt to dance in that night with slacks or jeans (no shorts). This is the only night you can wear casual and we are encouraging all of you to buy your shirts to wear that night.
- Friday morning we will be decorating the other rooms and putting down flooring in the round dance hall so you have the morning to walk around Gatlinburg, explore the mountains, or visit some of the area craft shops. We will have more ideas for you later on this. You could always just sleep in and enjoy a leisurely breakfast, too.
- Dancing begins on Friday at 12:30p.m.
Our callers, cuers and line dance instructors will be very disappointed if you are not there. Check-in will begin at 11:30a.m if you are just arriving and have not checked in Thursday night. Intro sessions to contra, DBD, and advanced will also be offered with mainstream, plus, advanced, rounds and lines - dancing for all.
- Friday evening will begin at 7:45p.m. with opening ceremonies and dancing 8:00 to 11:00p.m.
Be sure to wear square dance attire during the evening hours. Don't forget the SLICK LEATHER SOLED SHOES. Casual is fine for the afternoon, however no shorts or skimpy tops. Square dance attire is anything from long skirts to the full skirts with crinolines and long-sleeved shirts for the men with slacks.
- Saturday is really a fun day with workshops, used clothing sale, sewing clinic, Fashion Show, Singles Get Acquainted Dance and intro to rounds and C-1 plus all the regular dance venues like Friday.
- Saturday night we will have our Grand March, opening Ceremonies and lots of great dancing available from 8:00p.m. to 11p.m.
Hot Hash and alternating Singing Calls will be on both Friday and Saturday night for you that like the fast pace.
We will end with an after-party on Saturday evening. We will send out the schedules once they are available with the callers names so you can see all your favorites.
Vendors and Clothing Re-sales
Great news, we will have really wonderful vendors, including one new vendor that will be here for the first time. We are looking forward to being able to shop, shop, shop.
For all of you that like to bring the clothing you have grown tired of or don't wear anymore, we will have the re-sale shop open on Saturday morning with drop-off being from 9:00 to 9:30a.m. Be sure to label your items with your name, phone number, address and bring a self-addressed stamped envelope to put your money from the sale into. You should use pin on string tags if at all possible as paper tags often fall off and get lost. Please check back at the end of the sale for any items you bring that didn't sell. If you don't collect them they will be donated. PLEASE remember to bring lots of dollar bills for this event as checks will not be accepted. CASH only, no checks, no charges. The right change will help our staff tremendously.
Fashion Show
The Fashion Show will be Saturday afternoon using the theme of Over The Rainbow from the Wizard of Oz. If you would like to model in the fashion show please send in your name and description of your outfit ASAP to Glenda Booker at gbooker4444@comcast.net. If you don't have the outfit finished yet, but know you want to be in it please let her know as well. This will help her with her planning of the program. Her phone number is 865-705-5044. An e-mail with the form went out a few weeks ago, but if you need another one let either Glenda or me (Sinda) know.
We hope to see all of you at this year's 36th TN State Convention. Don't forget to send in those registrations and wear your ribbons to help us promote this great event.
